Celebrate the party season

Festive December

Did you know that fifty years ago in many parts of rural Scotland, Christmas was just another day and the all-important celebration was Hogmanay, the 31st December? Today, it’s very different and Scotland celebrates a veritable Winter Festival that starts with St Andrew’s Day (30 November) and runs right through December and into the New Year.

Christmas themed wildlife has to include reindeer. Scotland’s very own reindeer herd live in the Cairngorms and – if you wrap up well - you can visit them on a walk out on the open hill even in December – though several of them are booked for a variety of events all over Scotland at this time of year!
