Cosy November

Yes, there’s an uncertainty weather-wise – but still a chance of high pressure and calm, clear days. Red squirrels in our woods take no chances though and hide nuts in the ground to find later! In fact, it’s time for hearty food for us all, and our kitchen plots still have plenty of seasonal leeks, cabbage and greens for a Scotch broth. Game, especially, pheasant, is plentiful and pot roast recipes use ingredients like redcurrant jelly, based on more produce from our gardens. Cosy and comforting food for a year that’s ending – just the sort of menu you’ll find in our warm and cosy pubs.
